A Weekend in Stockholm Day 3 | Good Cents Guy 2017

May 19, 2017

As good as days 1 and 2 were, Day 3 was our favorite. We finally were able to ditch most of our jet-lag and really went for it. We covered well over 10 miles on foot like the champs that we are and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. Clear skies let us enjoy the city in jeans and a light jacket.

As with day 2, we started the morning with a breakfast that even Karl Gustaf would approve of. Even writing this now, I dream of having breakfast again at the Clarion Hotel Sign Stockholm.

From hotel we walked towards Gamla Stan without  even using Google Maps! We had planned to walk the picturesque Strandvägen, but as we admiring the amazing views of Gamla Stan, we followed the path alongside the water onto one of Stockholm's small islands directly east of Gamla Stan and North of Södermalm. The views were simply breathtaking.

As we continued further onto this magical island we had great views of the amusement park on Djurgården island! It looked like lots of fun.

Our feet were a little tired, so we decided to take a traditional Swedish fika at the cafe at Moderna Museet, which offered excellent outdoor seating with fantastic views. The pastries were so good!

Here's the view.

We wrapped up our fika and headed towards Strandvägen. It's one of Stockholm's most expensive streets and was littered with tourists and expensive lunch spots that hugged right up against the water. We kept moving and decided we wanted a more down to earth lunch experience. We decided that we'd venture in to Djurgården to find our lunch spot and boy were we lucky we did.

We found this gem hidden in the middle of this magical island. Rosendals Trädgård Cafe

With it being one of the nicest days of the year (we were told), the line was fully out the door. We stayed patient and were rewarded with what was the best bread I've ever had. Michaela and I shared an asparagus salad, fennel soup, ham sandwich and some wine. Everything tasted so fresh and all the vegetables were directly from their farm, which was just outside the cafe. GO HERE!

We had a  lengthy walk back to our hotel and took a little siesta before dinner.

We decided that we wanted to go back to Södermalm for dinner where we found a hip tapas spot called Mosebacke Etablissement.

All the dishes were vegetarian with the option to add meat. I would describe the  vibe as causal hip with prices to match. The dishes were beautiful and tasty. The service was also very friendly and we'd go back here again.

After dinner we weren't quite done with the night yet and headed over to Restaurang Akkurat for a night cap. As a beer drinker, I'll always check out Ratebeer for the top beer bars in a city and this one was the highest rated. They had a nice selection of imported Belgium and local craft brews. The Swedish craft beer scene grows each time I come back.

And there you have it. Day 3 in the books. This was a our last full day in Stockholm and we really made the most of it!

Make sure to check out Day 1 and Day 2 if you haven't already. Feel free to drop us a note below.
